TRX Interval with Zach left our muscles sore for days… that is how great of a workout we had! Neither of us have done TRX training before, and we must say that we loved it! Who knew that using our own body weight could be so challenging? At one part we had to do a pull up, and we didn’t realize we were so heavy!
Zach started off class by explaining the the format and what to expect. He had everything written out on a whiteboard (see picture at the end) so that we could refer back to it as needed. This was really helpful because we easily forget nowadays. It is either because we are old or because our brains are fried from our kiddos?? Or maybe a combination of both! It seemed as though the majority of people were regulars in the class, and we were worried we would stick out like a sore thumb. In all reality, we don’t think anyone even noticed, except Zach. He paid some extra attention to us, and was really helpful in demonstrating the exercises. He also offered the class modifications to less strenuous exercises and options, which were definitely necessary! An example: we could do 200 mountain climbers OR run two laps around the parking lot. Guess which one we chose?! Hint: the latter, it seemed easier to us, and it probably was the easier choice of the two. Life is all about choices… do I transfer my sleeping toddler from the car to their bed and risk waking them up, or do I leave them in the car sleeping, and be held hostage until they awake? Both have their pros and cons. Which would you choose?
The one major difference between this class and other group classes we have taken, was that we were given instructions and we were set to workout at our own pace. The class was made up of 3 segments, each consisting of 3-4 exercises. The people who were very advanced flew through them. Surprising to us, we fell somewhere in the middle (we might have skipped a set or two shh! It really wasn’t on purpose). Once you were finished with a set, you could take a water break, but then back to business. Each exercise segment was equally as challenging and fun! Being that we never used TRX cables before, we had a lot of fun with it. Maybe too much fun! To make light of our experience and to get us through without dying, one of us, dirty mind and all, thought about other ways we could use the TRX cables at home… in the bedroom. Wouldn’t that spice things up a bit? We are kind of kidding with this… but it would make for an interesting story. Stay tuned for our next post on “Moms go wild in the bedroom.” LOL.
In the end, we loved this class and we would 100% go back again. It was challenging for us, and worked different muscle groups that we hadn’t worked before. The time is perfect for a working mom’s schedule, and it is only an hour long. If we would have ditched our “after workout” drinks, we would have been home in time to put our kids to bed. Next time, kids, mamas need a drink! If you haven’t checked out Urban Fit, do so! It is a really cool spot, with tons of classes to offer.
