Bridge The Gap Workouts – HIIT (Take 2)

This was our second time (since starting the blog in July) that we have taken Danielle’s Wednesday night HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) class.  Oh boy, were we in for it, in a good way of course! Danielle constructed her class to only use our body weight, and nothing else. It was the same format, we mentioned in our other post  (see link here) – 6 rounds of high intensity intervals – 20 seconds exercise/10 seconds rest/ 20 seconds exercise, but the exercises were all new!  They ranged from jumping jacks with a band on our ankles – try doing that! – lots of variations of squats, burpees, high knees, low jumping jacks – when you’re in a squat position, and lots of core work that was made up of bicycles, scissor kicks, and planks.  We love this about her class because we never know what to expect, and it keeps us engaged and on our toes – similar to kids keeping you on your toes. You never know what is coming next! One minute they are sitting and playing quietly, and the next they are climbing up your TV stand!

Should we say something about attacking the calories in just 45 minutes? Short and sweet. Good for moms on the go- even if it means dropping off the kids at practice or CCD (for the Catholics) and hitting this class real quick. 6:30-7:15

Of course we were both dying after the first round, but this is because we haven’t exercised in over a week! Can anyone say, slackers?  No, but in all seriousness, we both had a lot going on over the past week, which caused us to take a break from our normal routines. We have learned that it was OK to slow down, but we had to get back on that horse! We knew Danielle’s class was the perfect transition back into our routine because she holds us accountable and is so motivating.  There were definitely times throughout the day where we thought to ourselves, “Ugh, I really don’t want to do this tonight!” We know first hand that a break in your workout routine makes it really hard to get back into it. Luckily, we have each other for support. If one of us was going, so was the other. If you need someone to hold you accountable, go to Danielle’s class, and we will go with you too!
