This class was on fire!  One of our blog followers came with us, and we asked her for a quote for our post.  She said “my abs were on fire, and they still hurt!” If that doesn’t scream a great workout, I don’t know what does.  This was our third visit to Core Power Yoga in a week, and we can honestly say we love this place. Everyone we encountered has been so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Every class we have taken has been a great workout, with convenient times for working moms, and left us feeling strong, lean, and flexible.

The Yoga Sculpt class was unlike the other classes we took at Core Power Yoga (see other blogs here  and here).  We were given a heads up about the class by another instructor.  We think her exact words were “Oh, Michelle is going to kick your butts!”  Let’s just say, she wasn’t too far off! When we walked into the room, we realized it was heated, like in the Hot Yoga Fusion class.  We were ready for the heat (and sweat). It was Sunday morning, we both escaped our kids and successfully gotten out of the house, and we ate and drank too much that weekend, so we needed to sweat it all out!

We did a few breathing exercises to start, and then we were off to the races.  The first song on the playlist was “Hair Up”  by Justin Timberlake.  Most moms of young kids might know this song from the Trolls movie.  One of our daughters is obsessed with this movie and makes us play the soundtrack on repeat. She actually goes up to the Amazon Echo and starts saying “Trolls”.  Maybe we need to switch the name from “Alexa” to “Trolls”. Actually…no, that would probably torture us even more! We hear the soundtrack in our sleep sometimes as it is.  Immediately, as this song blasted through the speakers, we felt connected to our daughter, and so happy we could sing along!

The class incorporated yoga poses, coupled with light weights.  Don’t be fooled by “light” weights… our arms were shaking more often than not!  We grabbed a set of 3 lbs and 5 lbs, and mixed them in depending on the exercise.  The class worked pretty much our whole body – arms, legs, and abs. OMG the abs. Michelle, the instructor, killed us in abs!  There was also a cardio song to get our heart rates up, even though they were definitely already elevated. The flow of the poses was quick moving, and there weren’t as many balance poses as in the other two classes. Michelle was so energetic and upbeat, and she has a great sense of how to create a great workout mix. We must have been working and concentrating really hard, because we remember her constantly telling us to SMILE.  This is something we really forget to do. Sometimes the only time we smile is when we are laughing at ourselves or our kids. Michelle was constantly walking around the room to make sure we were all in proper form, and she gave us modifications in case an exercise was too difficult. She was also really good at giving us a heads up as to what was coming next. This was extremely helpful because it let us know how hard we should be pushing ourselves. If it was our last set, we would push ourselves to the max vs if it was only our first set, and we had a lot more butt-kicking ahead of us.

Moms, we absolutely recommend this class.  It was such an amazing full body workout. Class was only an hour on Sunday morning at 9:00am, so it does not interfere with your whole day.  And, if you really plan ahead, Turning Point is right down the strip, and they have an amazing brunch!  Or you could go to Harvest, and they have a full bar… Yoga and brunch (with or without mimosas)… sounds pretty nice, huh?  Also, a kid-free brunch is even better!!

By the end of the class we were exhausted, very sweaty, and felt completely detoxed!  Thank you so much for having us! We can’t wait to come back soon! Check out Core Power Yoga – North Wales for other classes offered!
