Name: Moondog Yoga
Location: Quakertown, PA
Instructor: Kim
Exercise Type: Aerial Yoga – This was an essentials class that was designed for beginners. You have to take two of these classes before you can move to the next level.
We never took an aerial yoga class before, and we were so excited! When we walked into class, Kim was hanging everyone’s hammocks and making sure they were the right height (the lowest part of the hammock should sit right at your hips). We started with some breathing exercises on our mats, and then we got to the fun stuff!
Kim taught us three poses
- Forward fold Pose
- Supported Chair Pose
- Anti-Gravity Pigeon Pose, which we were able to invert
She demonstrated and helped us get into and out of each pose. After taking this class, we can say that although each pose was doable, it takes a lot of practice and technique. We got the chance to try each one several times, and each time our bodies felt different due to our positioning.

At the end of class, we practiced savasana, which was the COOLEST experience ever. We got to lie down in the hammock; it felt like we were in a little cocoon. Also, the hammocks were rocking ever so slightly, which could put us to sleep like a baby. We could have laid there for hours.
