Have you ever heard the saying, “You gotta tabata!”? Every time we hear “tabata” that phrase comes to mind, and that is exactly what we did with our gear from Tabata Bootcamp. When we received our package from them, we were so amazed and grateful for all of the cool stuff they sent us. T-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, bags, hats, balls, resistance bands, sliders, ropeless jump ropes… you name it! WOW!
We decided that since we got all of these amazing items, it only made sense that we try them out. We picked a great location and got to it! Who doesn’t love working out with a gorgeous lake in the background?
My daughter thinks that every exercise class I go to is yoga (except when I go to barre and she says, “Mommy, is going to the bar!” Classic.). She got her very first yoga mat this year, and we are constantly practicing our poses – she has mastered her downward dog!
On Saturday morning, I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and stumbled upon a post from YogaFit Horsham. “Family Yoga.” This caught my attention. Since my daughter is only 2.5 years old, I normally can’t find anything like this for her to do. This particular class was for 2-5 year olds, so we were golden. When my daughter woke up, I told her she finally gets to go to yoga with mommy. Her eyes lit up, and she got the biggest smile on her face. She grabbed her yoga mat and ran to the door. I had to explain to her that we still had 4 hours to kill before yoga, but she didn’t care… she was ready!
Have you ever been in the middle of exercising and thought to yourself, “I’m so tired, I am going to stop”? Yup. Been there. Did you stop? We all have, and we are here to tell you that the key to successful exercising is consistency and commitment. You don’t get anywhere by quitting your workout every time you are tired. Hell, would moms ever work out? This week’s Friday Fitness Tip is “Don’t Stop When You’re Tired, Stop When You’re Done.”
Our success stories stem from setting a goal and sticking to it. If we plan to run 2 miles, we run 2 miles. If we agree to an hour barre class, we work our little butts off for the entire hour. This isn’t to say our way is fool-proof, but it is our way to stay motivated.
One last piece of advice for you. Tomorrow’s a trap. There is no way you will catch up tomorrow. Stop procrastinating, set a workout goal, and achieve it.
In a previous post, I told you all that I had a goal to try and work out in the morning. Thankfully, I’ve been able to do so and here are my thoughts.
Working out in the morning, specifically at 5:30 am, is hard if you’re not a morning person like me! Since becoming a parent, I’ve become a morning person… not by choice. For example, last Monday I naturally woke up at 5:00 am. I decided to start the day with Danielle Bridge Bridge The Gap Workouts, LLC by taking her bootcamp class. Nothing like Danielle wanting a “Yeah!” at the crack of dawn, but she’s one motivating lady! Here’s what happens after I take her morning classes:
Today marks the one year anniversary of starting our blog – Work It Like A Mother. To say that we are proud, is an understatement. We never thought we would find and feel so much joy, encouragement, and accomplished from it. Our community of moms and women are amazing, and we couldn’t do what we do without your support.
Over the past year, we have tried over 30 NEW fitness studios/gyms and have taken over 50 NEW classes, as working moms. That’s pretty incredible, right? Don’t get us wrong… it wasn’t easy, but we made a commitment and we made it happen. If you would have asked us a year ago if this was possible, we would have said you were crazy! This is what motivation and encouragement does for us. We take it one day at a time, and we have seen success. Are you ready to join us yet?
Want to join us on our journey for finding the perfect workout class? Here is our upcoming class schedule for the week. Please feel free to reach out to us if you’d like us to save you a spot, or be your buddy walking into class. We can’t wait to sweat with you!
True Life: I used to be obsessed with being “skinny.” All throughout my adolescent years, I focused on it, stressed over it, and I dreamt about it. I let those thoughts control my life, and I developed a lot of unhealthy habits because of it. It was the monkey on my back that I couldn’t quite shake. Thankfully, when I found exercise, I had an epiphany.
I didn’t need to be skinny; I wanted to be fit.
It took me way into my 20’s, but I have finally figured it out. My goal today is to no longer be skinny, it is to be fit.
Exercise Type: Bootcamp – There were 40 stations set up all along the recreation center. A few examples were: jumping jacks, squats, weighted ball throws, bicep curls, burpees, planks, and lunges. When I first heard “40 stations” I figured there had to be repeats… I was amazed that they were all different!
Amazon Prime, what a wonderful thing… Is there anyone who doesn’t use it? The biggest reason we use Amazon Prime is that it is convenient! Yes, we will pay $3 extra for diapers because they are delivered right to our doorstep the next day. How about toilet paper? Yup, got that too. A shattered iPad that needs to be replaced to avoid a meltdown, AMAZON PRIME. They have everything, and can be in your hands in less than 2 days. Now that today is Amazon Prime Day, we have ramped up our shopping goals!
