Body Image And A Powerful Message

Body Image – noun; the subjective picture or mental image of one’s own body.

I know what I want to say to myself, but it just doesn’t happen easily. It’s a constant battle in my head… You look amazing! You worked so hard and you’re so strong! Yes, my hair actually looks good. My bags under my eyes aren’t that noticeable, right? Ugh, you’re so fat. My skin is disgusting. I have nothing to wear. I hate my clothes. You’re so gross. I don’t feel pretty. My body image perception needs some work.

Friday Fitness Tip – Be Positive

This week’s Friday Fitness Tip is to Be Positive when it comes to your exercise routine, and in all honesty… life.  So many of us are consumed by negative thoughts, including us. I’m not good enough. I can’t do this exercise. It’s too hard. I don’t have enough time. I’m too tired.  I’m not fit enough. Stop it. All of those thoughts are negative, and we can all relate at some point or another.

Anyways, what are some ways to get rid of your negative thoughts?

Remember When We Didn’t Know What Tabata Was?

A little over a week ago, I went back to visit Nex Level Fitness – Doylestown to take Amy’s Saturday morning tabata class (See full review here).  I seriously forgot what I was missing! WOW! From the second I walked in, until the second I walked out, Amy’s energy was amazing. Talk about a great motivator! All throughout class, she encouraged people by name, and kept the class moving at such a fast pace.

Working Out 10 Years Later – 5 Things We Wish We Had Known

We cannot describe to you how much we took advantage of working out 10 years ago. Back then it wasn’t just a workout, it was also a social outing, a potential place to find boys, and a way to pass time. Talk about being naïve.

Here are five things about working out that we wish we would have know 10 years ago.

Friday Fitness Tip – Find The Best Workout For You

I was walking out of the gym last weekend, and noticed a large group of people running suicide sprints in the basketball court area. Why were they doing this?  I will never know, but I know it was not right for me. It may be super effective, but I would hate every minute of it.

One of the most important things when working out is finding a workout that best fits you and your interests. My husband is someone who has really embraced this in his workout routine. He finds a lot of joy in just shooting the basketball. I’m still not sure how he considers this exercise, but that’s neither here nor there. Anyways, he hits the gym every Tuesday and Thursday morning and starts with a light jog, then does some minor weight lifting, and finishes off the hour with 10-15 min of shooting baskets. While this would not appeal to me in any way, my husband says that the addition of shooting the basketball helps him get up in the morning to get to the gym. It’s something he looks forward to.

This week’s Friday Fitness Tip is “Find The Best Workout For You.”

Who Says Donuts Aren’t Healthy Kid Snacks? {Guest Post}

Sometimes it feels like one of the most difficult jobs of motherhood is actually feeding the little boogers. What was once their favorite food now absolutely disgusts them, they’re always hungry but nothing ever sounds good, and introducing healthy foods is sometimes a nightmare (like.. the fact that we’re feeding them a vegetable is the absolute meanest thing in the world, right?)

While I wish I could sit here and tell you that I always have the time (and patience!) to make elaborate meals for my own kiddo, I’d be lying. Between running a business, a household, and chauffeuring our son to multiple baseball games and practices and every other sort of activity in between, I just don’t have time for something super time intensive. BUT. I promise you that teaching our kids healthy habits and ensuring they are getting a balanced, nutritious diet on the regular is still possible.
